Passed.

The test last night was nothing out of the ordinary. I fumbled a little on one of the second intermediate hand principle techniques, doing short strikes when I should have been doing long ones just because I was paying too much attention to the deflections and not enough to the follow-up. I corrected myself pretty quickly, though, and that seemed to be enough.

The only part that was rough was the endurance test. I haven’t been working out at home as much lately and I was pushing myself harder during that part of the test than was really required, so I started running out of gas earlier than I should have. My preferred tactic for the endurance is to do Yun Tung repeatedly. A proper speed on that form should finish it in about thirty seconds, so if I’m going fast, I should get in about seven times for the three minute test. Since I wasn’t bothering with locking into deep stances and because I dropped the formal close (instead going from the last move, the rolling double backfist, straight into the first outward palm deflection to speed up the transition) I was moving a lot faster. I think I slammed through it ten or twelve times. I feel good about it, though. I have no doubt in my mind that I put everything I had into that three minutes, and that I couldn’t have worked any harder. I think that’s the point.

I know that all the white belts, all the beginner, and all the intermediate students passed their tests, though Sifu and Sigung had more than a couple of corrections for a lot of people. I didn’t stick around to watch the advanced students finish up, so I suppose I’ll find out about them tomorrow at the demo.
